Biography
Helena Colborn is a sophomore from Germantown, MD studying Communications at the University of Maryland. Her interests include drawing and blogging. Her anticipated research will apply these art forms with the topics that she writes about in her blog to explore sexual liberation. Her blog, “have a sexy, smart time” educates youth and other young adults about sexual health in a comfortable and approachable manner. Her drawing techniques use limited color, often graphite or trois crayons, to emphasize the beauty of the human anatomy and the empowerment a person carries within themselves. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communications, she intends to work for a local company as a Public Relations Assistant, applying her art knowledge to promote the company.
Helena aims to delve into her research interests by completing her Capstone project for the College Park Arts Scholars during her sophomore year. She looks forward to hearing from guest artists and attending field trips within the school year. Within her community, she plans to work with the Chi Chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. on local projects.
